Abstract

This article explores Nalikule College of Education’s innovative approach to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by secondary schools in Malawi. Recognizing the crucial role of ongoing professional development, Nalikule College of Education has implemented a program to create professional learning communities (PLCs) within eight cluster schools, utilizing Lesson study as a core practice. It highlights how Lesson study, with its emphasis on collaborative reflection and inquiry, addresses challenges such as limited resources, diverse student needs, and the implementation of inquiry-based teaching methods. By establishing PLCs, Nalikule College of Education aims to cultivate a collaborative learning environment, encouraging the exchange of ideas, strategies, and best practices amongst educators.
