Who is a leader of change in education? What is their role in shaping trends of change leading to improvement of the educational process? What are the features of high-level leadership in the professional development of a teacher? What are the leadership functions of the head of an educational organisation? The articles will reflect topical issues concerning the development of the school as a self-learning organisation based on the concepts of leadership, continuous practice research, business thinking and talent management.

SOFT SKILLS: Why is it important?

The second issue will be devoted to the development of flexible (soft) soft skills that contribute to the achievement of goals and are closely related to personal qualities and emotional intelligence. Questions concerning the challenges and initiatives regarding soft skills, the characteristics of skills, assessment tools, soft skills technologies, and ways to develop and influence them are of interest. The focus is on communication skills, self-organisation skills, creative skills (ability to think outside the box), information handling, stress resistance, in particular problem-solving skills, public speaking, teamwork, business and digital communication and organisation of activities. Research articles, the results of which contribute to the professional development of teachers and improve the quality of education are to be accepted.

This issue of the journal will be timed to coincide with the XVIII International Conference on Lesson Study, organised by WALS together with the NIS Center of Excellence. The issue will reflect the results of research of Kazakhstani and foreign scholars, international experts and participants of the conference and offer articles on the effectiveness of Lesson Study in the context of the world educational space to improve pedagogical practice.

Well-being: teaching children – learning from children

The well-being of schoolchildren is one of the indicators of educational efficiency and a new trend that takes into account not only educational but also socio-economic and socio-cultural parameters. How do academic achievements and relationships in the school community influence the level of students’ satisfaction and well-being? What is well-being, and what are the psychological barriers to its achievement? Why does bullying occur, and how can it be stopped? The authors will share their scholarly views and research results on these and other aspects of this issue.
