The ASPIRE principles build a school culture for wellbeing and learning for all

Abstract
Although much of the focus in education is on academic outcomes, the everyday experience of school has a profound impact on both the wellbeing and learning for every young person. This article summarises the ASPIRE principles of Agency, Safety, Positivity, Inclusion, Respect and Equity, which together promote a culture that helps to make school a place where young people are motivated to attend, engage with, and find joy in learning and maintain a positive sense of self. This article explains why each principle matters in education and gives evidence and examples of the difference it makes for both wellbeing and learning.
