Abstract
The article focuses on the analysis of the formation and development of the teacher retraining system in Kazakhstan within the context of global educational transformations. Particular attention is paid to the organisation of retraining courses for specialists with higher, but non-pedagogical education at the Pavlodar Pedagogical University named after A. Margulan.
The paper emphasises the importance of partnership with the Center of Excellence of the AEO “Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools” (Astana), joint development of modules and training courses, which made it possible to bring the programme into line with international standards. A significant stage in the formation of the competency-based approach was the study of the PGCE model at the University of Cambridge (Homerton College), where the principles of professional reflection, mentoring, the priority of practical experience and the integration of research activities into teaching were mastered. Adapting international experience to national realities made it possible to preserve key principles: modularity, emphasis on practical activities, and a mentoring system.
Key words: pedagogical retraining, professional development, mentoring, international cooperation, continuity
